Jijo Balakrishnan
Engineering Manager
Mr. Jijo Balakrishnan serves as CTG’s Manager for Engineering Services. Mr. Balakrishnan also has responsibility for directing the activities of CTG Power Systems, LLC.
Prior to joining CTG, Mr. Balakrishnan served as a Chief Business Analyst for Muller Group International, a Tampa based global consulting firm focusing on business development, project development, joint ventures, project financing and legal consulting in Latin America. He was responsible for researching emerging technologies for the development of new business opportunities in the power generation sector. In this role he provided analytical support and identified potential markets, customers and revenue streams. These revenue streams included tax credits, renewable energy credits, and various emissions credits.
Mr. Balakrishnan possesses a strong acumen in the market development of biodiesel. He has developed a high degree of expertise in the field of biodiesel sales and its corresponding tax credits in the United States and in the European Union. This expertise extends to an in-depth knowledge of how biodiesel credits can be monetized and how they can be enhanced in power generation applications with renewable energy credits. He has also done in-depth research into registration (IRS, EPA, etc.) and compliance issues related to biodiesel.
At MGI, Mr. Balakrishnan also worked extensively on international business projects ranging from fossil fuel power plants to biodiesel production facilities and palm plantations. He has managed the preparation of international business plans and offering memorandums. These projects all entailed very complex financial models and cross border country risk mitigation. Market analysis research became his particular expertise contribution to the MGI team.
Prior to CTG and MGI, Mr. Balakrishnan worked for the New York City Transit Authority as an Electrical Engineer. He was responsible for ensuring vendor compliance with NYCT train specifications for the R143 program. He worked closely with the train vendor, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, and their sub-contractors to analyze and test the control and communications systems for this program. Mr. Balakrishnan also worked on the development of the specifications for the R160 program and qualification of new sub-contractors for this program.
In addition to working on the R143 Program, Mr. Balakrishnan also supported the Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) Program, the pilot project by Siemens Transportation Systems to automate (with a driverless control system) the NYCT Subway System. He worked both in New York and Paris, France on Design Reviews for the program.
Mr. Balakrishnan also worked extensively with Kawasaki and Siemens to qualify and test the CBTC system. Prior to joining the NYC Transit Authority, Mr. Balakrishnan worked for Heraeus Amersil, a quartz glass manufacturer, as a Research Assistant. He was responsible for researching and developing an automated laser welding process for silicon wafer boats. Mr. Balakrishnan developed the prototype nozzle for the automated fire-polishing process.
Mr. Balakrishnan holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and earned a Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in finance and entrepreneurship from the University of South Florida. Email: Jijo@Camelottech.com
